Keepin it Real?

“The Lord My God is, my strength, my personal bravery, my invincible army.  He makes my feet like hind’s feet, and will make me walk, not stand still in terror, but walk and make spiritual progress upon my high places of trouble, suffering, and responsibility.” Habakkuk 3:19

Busy!! Overwhelmed!! Wondering, “Lord, what’s going on??”

Our lives (Papa’s and mine) are usually on a pretty even keel, you know, steady, predictable… sometimes monotonous.

But looking back on the last few months, it has been anything but!!!  Recently, it feels like when our feet hit the floor in the morning, thinking there’s just so much going on I just won’t be able to keep up.

A whirlwind of things happening around us…. some good, but some hard things, sad things too!  So many close friends dealing with pain, sadness, and their lives completely turned upside down. How to help??? Words are just not enough! So you reach out in the only ways you can to comfort as best you can.

We are so blessed with these friends, good loving friends who feel more like family because they are ‘our church family’.  Blessed with their lives, with their love, where would we be without them. These are the kind of people who will (and have) stand with you through the storms of your life, and your heart aches for them. You can’t help but wonder where the next shoe will fall!!

But there are good things too, wonderful things that keep us busy. April and May have been filled with celebrations! Every one of our weekends have been booked with things to celebrate, and celebrate we did!  We celebrated with Dan’s uncle on his 80th birthday, and this past weekend, we celebrated his mom’s 87th birthday!

Now with the summer months upon us we will celebrate even more birthdays. Six in our own family and a few in our extended families!! And of course Our Family Vacation with ALL the kids!!  Then there will be swim parties, cookouts and even more “family” events!!

Sometimes I wonder, when will it all slow down? And I often feel like the Velveteen Rabbit, like ‘my fur has all been rubbed off”, but as he said, that’s what makes us Real!

In my heart I know that’s what it’s all about… this journey we call life….  Oh yes, just for a few moments, it’s nice to have a break, to breath and rest a bit. But life goes on.. and I don’t want to be left behind.

Sometimes I find myself totally enchanted with our predictable, quiet, seemingly dull/boring life. It's why I love the movie: "The Magic of Ordinary Days." Ordinary is good.

I love naps, and reading books or watching a good old movie. I love spending time with family & friends.

Then, as if a tornado swept in, everything is hurry-scurry and it gives me hiccups. Finding my balance at such times is not always easy.

I know you'll have a blast, and make many a new memory. But I'll be praying you soon have a few oridinary days.
