On This Veteran's Day

No Greater Love than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

Remembering those who Serve in our Armed Forces…

And thanking them….

And on This Veteran’s Day our hearts are sadden by the recent loss of our Service members at Fort Hood.

Honoring them today……..memorial for fort hood fort hood2

                              fort hood 3

Remembering their families in our prayers.

A certain Medieval Monk announced that he would preach the next Sunday Evening on the Love of God…

As the shadows fell and the light faded from the Cathedral windows, the congregation gathered.

In the darkness surrounding the altar, the Monk lit a candle and carried it to the crucifix.  First he illuminated the Crown of Thorns.. then the wounded hands.. next the spear wound.. and finally the feet of our Savior.

In the quiet of the moment, he blew out the candle and left the chancel, there was nothing more to say.
