What's Love Part 2

"... it always protects, always trust, always hopes, always preservers.  Love never fails."(1 Corinthians 13:8)

There are people that God puts in your life and you learn so much from them. The next Love I want to share with you is about two such people.

John and his wife Barbara are two of the nicest, sweetest people you could ever meet. John is the oldest of our associate pastors at our church. One of John's duties is minister of Senior Adults, along with planning and aiding in Winter Bible Studies.  His wife Barbara was a pharmacist until last year when she took early retirement. She was our pharmacist, and was always so helpful when we had questions.

Barbara and I worked in an outreach ministry of our church. We did backyard Bible Clubs in a DayCare near my home. She was always so prepared even after a days work. I was just there to support her and help out with crowd control, and all of the hands on crafts that we did with the kids.

Barbara is always so steady and ready to help out with any of the projects at church, especially if John is the one in charge of the project. She has always supported him in his ministry, and is in all ways, John's helpmate.

John and Barbara have been on many mission trips all around the world. There is one thing that everyone that knows them says about them, they have a heart for people.

John retired as the senior director of mission for the Columbia-Metro area of South Carolina before taking a position at our church .  John is one of those people who never stops working.

Ask anyone who is a part of Spring Valley Baptist Church which one of our ministers is the most loving and caring, they  will all  answer, John. He is always reaching out to others and caring for them. Making personal phone calls to those he knows are hurting.

Last summer, Barbara found out that she has stage four colon cancer. As you can well imagine this was a huge blow. But through it all Barbara still has a smile on her face.  John says that each day when she awakes she smiles and says "this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it."

There is so much love and devotion in their eyes for each other that you feel you could almost touch it.

Barbara has been undergoing Chemo since September. John is very devoted to her and spends much of his time caring for her. Theirs is a LOVE that is enduring pain and suffering. But the Love grows more and more each passing day.

In Sickness and In Health.... A LOVE that never fails.

                  "Could anyone ask for more?"

A great post on love, the love a husband should have for his wife and a wife for her husband. With that kind of love it's no wonder you have such a loving, caring Senior Adult Pastor. We have a Senior Adult Pastor who sounds exactly like him.

Will be praying of Barbara.

In sickness and in health. Their love and marriage is living this vow, and they are doing so with everything that is in that meaning, and serving as inspiration to all onlookers. Add my name to the list of well-wishers. Hold fast to Jesus!
